Rutgers, a large bulldog, has a favorite sweatshirt, a lovely home, and lots of animal friends. But Rutgers is lonely. Setting out to find a cure for his loneliness, he discovers some strange, prickly objects which he names water snouts and which make him very happy. But one day the water snouts mysteriously disappear and Rutgers and his animal friends become involved in exciting adventures as they set out to find them.
